Obituary

Bette Jean Buckler, 95, of Hanover, formerly of Farmington Hills, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Bette was born February 28, 1931, in Detroit, the daughter of William and Rita (Bartlett) Alley. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University and went on to teach school for 30 years, touching the lives of generations of students with patience and dedication.

On February 2, 1952, she married William John Buckler, Jr.; he preceded her in death on July 6, 2010. Bette was a devoted wife and mother — a wonderful mother whose family was very important to her.

A faithful and active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Redford, Bette taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School for many years and was a longtime member of the church choir. She also served her community by reading scholarship essays submitted to the Farmington Masonic Lodge and was honored to be part of that important work.

Bette is the beloved wife to the late William Buckler, Jr.; loving mother of David (Melissa) Buckler, Douglas (Therese) Buckler and the late Stephen Buckler; cherished grandmother of five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and fond sister of the late Fredrick Alley.

Bette's family will receive guests on Friday, August 21, 2026, beginning at 10 am until the 12 pm funeral service, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.

Memorial tributes are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Shriner's Hospital .
