In Loving Memory of Barry (Albert) DePorre
February 18, 1960 – October 23, 2025
Barry (Albert) DePorre passed away peacefully on October 23rd, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Born in Grosse Pointe Michigan to James and Janet DePorre on February 18th, 1960, Barry lived a life full of laughter, love, and adventure. He was the devoted husband of Chantal, proud father to Britany (Dan) Levin and Nicholas (Sarah) DePorre, and caring stepfather to John (Julie) White and Noelle (Petir) Abdal. Barry was known as "Pops" to his nine lucky grandchildren — Jackson, Hayden, Lincoln, Rory, Josie, Sloane, Genie, Pascal, and Avery who loved him dearly.
He is also survived by his seven siblings: James (Gail), Janet (Fred), Martine (Bill), Suzanne, Christine (late husband Blake), Yvette (Greg), and Leon.
Barry lived by his motto, "Never let the hard days win," and he embodied that spirit through every challenge, especially during his courageous battle with cancer. Even on the toughest days, his optimism, humor, and resilience shone through. His family takes comfort in knowing he never lost that twinkle in his eye or his ability to make everyone around him smile.
Barry retired from Frito-Lay several years ago, but refused to sit still for long - proving that "retirement" was really just code for finding new adventures. Whether working at Red Wings, Tigers or Pistons games, on the golf course, or at Little Caesars Arena, Barry loved staying active and being surrounded by people.
He loved his family most. He enjoyed travel, golf, adventure and squeezing every drop of joy out of life. Muzzie, Barry's mom, gave him some advice when he had a bad day in kindergarten, "We'll laugh about this later," she taught him. This advice lasted throughout his lifetime. His sense of humor was unmatched, and he was always the first to laugh - usually at his own jokes. He is deeply cherished by all who were lucky enough to know him, and his warmth, laughter, and light will be dearly missed.
