Ardis Elizabeth
Scott
Apr 4, 1936 — Feb 10, 2023
Farmington Hills
Ardis Elizabeth Scott, of Farmington Hills, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2023, at her home. She was 86 years old.
Ardis was born on April 4, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Voyd and Frances (Sheets) Jones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, John P. Scott, in 2003.
With two babies in town, Ardis moved from Dayton, OH to Farmington, MI in 1962, as her first husband (Norman Fouts) took a job at General Motors in Detroit. She would have two more children, twin boys, in 1964.
The marriage had challenges, and Ardis soon found herself raising four children alone. She would eventually remarry, but this adversity developed into resilience, fierce courage and a can do attitude. She was a headstrong woman who taught her children to put God first, have a strong work ethic, and the difference between right and wrong.
Mom had a beautiful singing voice. She would play old music and sing and dance to the music, like a school girl. She was ageless.
She was dedicated to her church. She sang like an angel in the church choir for many years. She volunteered for countless task, served as Deacon, and in 2022, the church honored her for her long standing contribution of volunteer work.
Ardis loved to read and write, and had beautiful cursive handwriting. She consistently sent gift cards to friends, family and church members for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or if someone was ill.
Mom had a deep love of nature. She would name all of the birds and chipmunks that would cross her window sill. She would sing songs to our pets. She would rejoice, with the love of a nurturing grandmother each year that a baby deer was born in her yard. She got much joy out of watching them grow.
Surviving Ardis are her dear children, Kathryn (Charles) Nelson, J. Eric (Kimberly) Fouts, Douglas (Susan) Fouts and David (Beverley) Fouts; cherished grandchildren, Ryan Fouts, Benjamin Fouts and Levy Parker; one great-grandchild on the way; and sister, Susan Bertke. In addition to her husband, Ardis was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Fouts, her beloved granddaughter, Faerin Fouts; and sisters, Lois Olson, Lillie Walker and Brenda Jones.
Donations are suggested to C.A.R.E.S. of Farmington Hills to honor Ardis and her family.
Please keep Ardis and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
