Anthony E. "Tony" Farchione, a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Born in Detroit to Italian immigrants, Guiseppe and Maria (DiFlorio) Farchione, on September 17, 1935, he embraced life with passion, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
He embarked on a journey of learning and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1953, marking the beginning of a life characterized by dedication and hard work. His commitment to service led him to proudly serve in the US Army, embodying courage and honor in every step.
On October 27, 1962, he married the love of his life, RoseAnna Roberto, at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Allen Park, sharing 61 beautiful years together filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for each other.
For 45 years, he served with diligence and loyalty at Detroit Edison, a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to his profession.
Beyond his professional life, he found joy in the simple pleasures. An avid sports fan, bowler, and golfer, he reveled in the challenge that sports had to offer. His love for coaching his kids little league teams exemplified his commitment to family and empowering young minds. To his grandchildren, he was a pillar of support, dedicated to attending each milestone of their lives. He rarely missed a sports game, dance recital, concert, or skating show and he never declined an opportunity to be their babysitter or chauffeur.
Tony is survived by his wife of 61 years, RoseAnna; children, Joel R. Farchione, Gina (Paul) Salice, and Elena (Franco) Petrucci; grandchildren, Amber and Tyler Farchione, Marisa, Christina, and Vincent Salice, Gabriella, Juliana, Francesca, and Sophia Petrucci; and sister, Carmela Smyth. Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Farchione.
Tony's family will receive guests on Monday, December 18, 2-8 pm, with a 7 pm Rosary, at the funeral home.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19, 11 am (in state 10:30 am), at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills.
Entombment will immediately follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
Memorial tributes are suggested to Tunnel to Towers or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
