Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Ferrari was the kind of man you just didn't forget. Whether it was his quick wit, his signature meatballs, or the way he could turn a simple family dinner into a memory you'd talk about for years, Tony left his mark wherever he went.

Born on November 28, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, Tony was the son of Vincent and Laura (DiPoce) Ferrari. He was truly proud of his Italian roots, especially his family's heritage from Sora, Italy—a pride that came through in the way he cooked, the way he talked, and the way he lived.

For decades, Tony worked as a mechanical engineer at Ford Motor Company. He had the mind for precision and problem-solving, and the pride of someone who took his work seriously.

Outside of work, Tony was happiest in his element: at the grill, in the kitchen, on the golf course, or with his friends and family on vacation. His cooking was legendary—spaghetti and meatballs, grilled salmon, steaks cooked just right. He was also a very loyal fan of the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings, and was known to be quite expressive during games.

He loved his dogs like family, and they loved him right back. He had a soft spot for animals, a sweet tooth for Sanders and Buddy's Pizza, and a deep love for music—opera, '60s folk, Dean Martin, Sinatra, Pavarotti—his playlists told the story of a man who appreciated beauty, rhythm, and soul.

Tony had a remarkably sharp mind when it came to history. He could talk about emperors and civilizations with the same enthusiasm he had for teasing his family at the dinner table. His humor was quick, dry, and playful—and always came from a place of love.

He was a gentleman. Thoughtful. Loyal. Generous. He made friends easily and kept them for life. He loved being with his family, whether at home or on trips to Traverse City or Vegas, soaking up the time and the stories that would turn into memories.

Tony didn't live out loud, but he lived fully. He showed up, he gave his best, and he made people feel like they belonged. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 55 years, a proud father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and the kind of man you were just better for knowing.

He leaves behind a family who adored him, countless memories made around meals and music, and a legacy of love, humor, and quiet strength that will never fade.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Ferrari; daughter, Jeannie Ferrari; son, Daniel (Amanda Wey) Ferrari; and grandson, Clifford Ferrari.

Tony was preceded in death by his dear brothers, Vincent Ferrari and Eugene Ferrari.
